The historic apartment of the late theatre professor Ivan Nagel is now in the hands of an art collector. The apartment is located in the city west and has its own garden, it has been in the very same state for more than 30 years. Thus, a complete renovation, modernisation is neccessary.
Besides surfaces, electricity and plumbing, also reinforcements in the ceiling have to be taken care of. The spatial connections are adapted to new living demands: Two small bathrooms become one, the kitchen is moved to the large central space. This way, an extra guest apartment with own entrance can be disconnected from the rest of the apartment.
The spatial kitchen also gets a larger entrance to the hall, both spaces become one and visual connections to the garden are created. The antique wooden floors are treated differently in every room to create different spatial characters:
The open, friendly kitchen with white oiled planks and the cosy, dark lacquered living room.
